2008 Top 50 Collection Technology Products
We increased the competition this year. Instead of honoring 100 products, we narrowed the list to 50. Half as many awards makes these winners twice as worthy. Special congratulations to the recipients of the Top 50 Collection Technology Products! Along with the Top 50 Most Influential Collection Professionals, the executives representing the companies who develop these products were honored at a reception on Nov. 11 in Orlando during TECH’08.
The Top 50 were selected through 13 categories based on reviews conducted during the past year, as well as reader response and feedback. The products must then survive the Collection Advisor magazine independent review process. Some companies fear press reviews, which always contain fewer glowing adjectives than company brochures. If company representatives object to how a journalist describes their product, they may counter the review in a rebuttal. A few companies have not agreed with the independent reviewer in years past and have removed their advertising from the magazine.
Every year I receive a few complaints about why certain products were not selected. Compiling the list begins with the review process to benefit the collection profession. So, if your favorite product is not seen here, please review the collectionadvisor.com editorial calendar to ensure that we know about your product when it is scheduled to be reviewed.
